These terms apply to FileMelon’s current image tools, PDF tools and online-form photo helpers. The current tools are free to use and do not require an account.
01Use files you have rights to process
You retain your rights in your files. Only process files you own, have permission to process, or may lawfully use under an applicable exception. Your permission or licence must cover your intended edits and use of the result.
Changing format, cropping, compression or adding a watermark does not transfer copyright to you or remove another person’s rights. You are responsible for complying with applicable copyright, privacy, publicity and other rights. Do not use FileMelon for infringement, impersonation, falsification, unlawful activity, attacks or interference with other users.
02Metadata and attribution
The metadata-removal tool and other fresh image exports discard original embedded metadata. This may include creator, copyright-owner, licence and other rights-management information as well as camera and location details. Only remove or alter protected rights-management information when you have the necessary authority.
Retain attribution and copyright notices required by your licence, and do not use metadata removal to conceal infringement or misrepresent ownership. Keep an original copy. Browser encoders may add basic format information; the tool does not promise a completely metadata-free file.
03Check your results
Keep a copy of your original file and inspect the downloaded result before submitting or relying on it. Compression can reduce image quality and dimensions. The compressor outputs JPG and fills transparent areas with white. General image tools can export JPG, PNG or WebP where supported; JPG fills transparency with the selected background colour. Re-encoding can change file size, image quality, colour appearance or metadata. Animated images are not supported.
04Size limits and availability
The targets are maximum sizes of 50,000, 100,000 or 200,000 bytes, not exact output sizes. Current input limits are 20 MiB and 40 megapixels. Some files or devices may not be supported. A result meeting a size target does not guarantee acceptance by a third-party application or submission portal.
05Official application photos and general editing
General editing tools, including adjustments, watermarking, blur, rotation and flipping, are intended for ordinary images. Do not assume their results are suitable for identity, passport, visa or other official applications. Authorities may prohibit software alteration or require an unmodified original. Dedicated form-photo helpers provide sizing and format assistance, not government approval, identity verification or legal certification.
06Form-photo helpers
Canada PR and Thailand e-Visa helpers preserve framing and limit JPG file size; Canada can proportionally reduce oversized images. Different forms have different requirements. The India preset prepares a 630 × 810 pixel JPG through manual cropping and resizing.
Guides are approximate and are not included in the output. It does not validate faces, lighting, expression, background, authenticity or compliance. It does not retouch faces or replace backgrounds.
Official guidance can restrict software alteration; confirm whether your application permits cropping or resizing. Follow the instructions for your actual application and retain the original. Government acceptance is not guaranteed.
07PDF tools and limitations
PDF tools create new files on your device. They do not provide secure redaction, OCR, password removal or signature verification. Editing tools reject signed and interactive-form PDFs.
Bookmarks, attachments, accessibility tags and document-level features may not transfer. PDF-to-image exports flatten the visible page into a picture and may change colour appearance or rendering. Image-to-PDF exports can resize oversized images and JPEG encoding fills transparent areas with white.
Keep the original and inspect your result. Each tool explains its own file, page and output limits.
08Service limitations and liability
We aim to provide useful tools, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, error-free operation or suitability for every purpose. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the free service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without additional express or implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business opportunities or losses resulting from reliance on an output without checking it. Application acceptance, fees and submission deadlines are controlled by the receiving authority; our tools do not guarantee acceptance or timely submission.
These limitations apply only where lawful. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability, statutory remedy or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Contacting us first is encouraged, but is not a condition for exercising legal rights and does not shorten or suspend any legal time limit.
13Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, subject to any mandatory protections applicable to you. Disputes may be brought before the competent courts or tribunals having jurisdiction under applicable law. Where legally permissible and subject to those protections, the competent courts in New Delhi, India will have jurisdiction.
This clause does not prevent you from approaching a competent consumer commission, regulator or other legally available forum, including a forum available where you reside when the law provides that right. It does not impose compulsory arbitration, waive collective remedies, or restrict statutory complaint rights.
