Will the background stay the same?
For selectable text, Erase removes the actual text object and leaves the background underneath. For scanned text, the editor repairs pixels using nearby paper colours. This is approximate on photographs, patterns and graphics; check the preview.
Can I match the original font?
Match original reuses the PDF’s existing font, size, position and colour where supported. Some embedded fonts contain only the original characters. If your replacement needs a missing character, choose a substitute font. Check the preview before downloading.
Does my PDF leave my device?
No. Your document and the text you enter stay in your browser. The editor and its PDF engine are served by FileMelon; there is no document upload, cloud conversion or external font service. OCR code and its English language model also come from FileMelon and run on your device.
Can I edit scanned or signed PDFs?
Scanned pages are recognised locally using English OCR. Click a recognised word to edit or erase it. Scanned fonts are approximated; background repair works best on plain paper. Check every change in the preview. Edited scanned pages become images with replacement text; existing links and annotations on those pages are not retained. Password-protected, digitally signed and interactive-form PDFs are not supported.
